Shefali Janak Chauhan is an artist and a teacher. She is a trained Interior Designer with a flair for painting – making both original works as well as copies as per client request. She paints on canvas, paper and glass using acrylic, oil, waterproof ink as well as mixed media such as marble chips, shells, jute and other natural produce. She also makes greeting cards, each individually hand-painted. These she exports, supplying them to various stores especially in the UK. Her creations on glass can be framed as paintings on the wall as well as designed to meet specific interior design and ambience requirements. Her large glass painted mural for Krishna Restaurant on Productivity Road, Akota, is much appreciated. She accepts commissioned work for paintings and greeting cards as required by corporate and individual clients according to their brief.

Her favourite topics while painting are religious themes, landscapes, nature, birds and animals. She already has had two exhibitions of her work in Baroda and is presently working towards her third exhibition. She is planning to exhibit in UK in 2003. Since the last 12 years, she has been regularly conducting art and craft classes teaching painting and drawing, flower-making and collage-making to women and children.

Shefali has been suffering from rheumatoid arthritis since she was 21, but with Vipassana meditation, she conquers her pain and works an average 12-hour day. During vacations when more kids flock to her class, she works an 18-hour day.
